About the Publisher

Dotted Eye Press

Dotted Eye Press publishes books for people in the middle of transitions that matter. Not inspiration. Not theory. Structured, research-grounded tools that work on Monday morning.

The name comes from the idea that the details are where things fall apart. The dotted i. The thing everyone skips. The small step between knowing what to do and actually doing it. That gap is where this press lives.

Field Guide to High School is the first publication. More are planned. All of them will follow the same principle: find the transition where people are expected to perform skills they were never taught, and build the manual.

Field Guide to High School and The Companion

I spent twenty years building organizational systems and process frameworks for engineering and product teams. I was good at taking complex, sequential work and turning it into something a team could actually follow.

In 2021, I stepped away from that career. During the break, I watched my own kid approach the transition to high school, and I saw something neither of us was ready for. High school expected planning, time management, prioritization, and follow-through from the first week. Nobody had taught any of it. The material was fine. The operational skills surrounding the material were invisible.

I looked for a structured program built on the research. I could not find one that met the standard I would have accepted in my professional work: sequenced, concrete, built to be owned by the person using it.

So I read the research myself and built it. Two years of cognitive science, executive function literature, and program design. The result is Field Guide to High School.

I am not a researcher or a clinician. I am the parent who built the thing that should have already existed, using twenty years of systems-building experience that turned out to be exactly the right background for the job.
